    Gosh American exhibitors only take 50% of the box-office. I should be working there.

    In the UK 20% of the ticket price goes to the Government in VAT. Of what’s left the exhibitor gets 75%. The distributor gets what’s left over but pays for all the release costs. No wonder no small budget British film ever makes any money in the UK cinema !

    Yes I agree David, the UK deal is soooo bad that it makes a theatrical release for a low budget film almost pointless aside from marketing. Or, you could release on one print and move it around. Then you hit the VPF!
