How to make and sell your first documentary film – Free Podcast with James Collie on ‘Beyond Biba’

Biba
I recorded this podcast ahead of our two day documentary workshop at Ealing Studios on  September 4th and 5th, to give you a flavour of some of the insights our delegates will be receiving at the workshop. You can get more information about it and read feedback from past delegates at howtomakeadocumenray.co.uk

What’s extraordinary about James and his documentary is that he shot it for £5k and managed to sell and distribute the film himself, selling out cinemas here in the UK, doing his own DVD release and selling it to Sky TV. He even managed to rent the film to festivals for $1,000 per screening.

All this by just picking up the phone, asking questions and creating relationships. We can all learn a great deal from his direct and simple approach.

If you enjoy this podcast, please put your name and email into the form on the right here so that you will get a message when the next free podcast is released.

And you can buy James’ film ‘Beyond Biba’ here.

UPDATE – James asked me to add info about a screening at the Notting Hill Gate Picturehouse on the 27th of September at 6pm with Barbara Hulanicki giving a post-screening Q&A. The film is released in the US on Amazon VOD/DVD next month and itunes in October for updates check here.

Onwards and upwards!
