About.me is a new, elegant and simple online tool that creates a clean and modern looking contact / resume style page for you. It features all your links, sites, a bio and photo.
It’s elegant, simple and I believe it will take off.
Why?
It has the great and memorable URL, www.about.me, its fast and east to setup and frankly, it looks pretty damn sexy. It’s the diametric opposite of web 2.0 social media data overload.
I just grabbed my URL, which is now www.about.me/ChrisJonesFilmMaker, inline with all my other social media URLs (I did try for just ChrisJones but it was gone, though ChrisJones2 was available, so if your name is not common like mine, you could probably grab your own named URL now, but do it fast).
It took me all of fifteen minutes to setup, and I am sure I will go back and update and tweak very soon, but I just wanted to grab that URL fast.

Great site! Thanks so much for the tip. I’ve set mine up – but I see your image quality is much better. I seem to have an issue getting the perfect size and resolution for the site…
What size / format and resolution do you recommend? Do you have tips for getting a perfect profile background image?

Hi Jacqui, after hunting around I think the best size is 1680 x 1050 pixels, weighted to one side so you can put text on the other. I also checked out what other people had done, some pretty cool designs up there too.
