The Black Magic Cinema Camera Rabbithole goes deeper…

If you have been thinking about the Black Magic Cinema Camera, as we have been doing, check out this video above to get a feel for how it’s been designed to be used in the field, for film makers (unlike DSLR which was made for stills photographers) and all those crazy features!

What do you think?

Ultimately, the worth of this camera will be proved when we see what it can produce. As a piece of technology, and even more as an approach, it is genuinely fresh and exciting. For me it was the most interesting thing to come out of NAB and this was not a year short on cameras. My thoughts

I’ve been wondering for a while why no one was making a DSLR style camera targeted especially at filmmakers. I assumed that none of the big camera companies wanted to cut into their high-end video camera market, and that no one else had the resources to make a camera of this quality – luckily Black Magic Design were working quietly in the background. As Andrew says, the real test is when we get to see how it actually performs in the wild. Great news for indie filmmakers that BMD are even going down this road, though.
