Roger Corman: The Inspiration Behind A Generation

Two men sitting on a stage, one speaking into a microphone, under a large screen displaying "Roger Corman" in a conference hall setting.

‘Every film would be improved by removing 15 minutes and adding a helicopter explosion.’

I have yet to hear a more incisive and fundamentally true quote from any filmmaker. Roger Corman was the granddaddy of the ‘fuck it, let’s do it’ generation of filmmakers that I stand shoulder to shoulder with. No resources, connections or even an idea of how to do it, but a fire in the belly and lashings of naiveté.

To hear of his passing at the grand age of 98 has made me sad, refective, but also inspired to one again, ‘fuck it, let’s do it…’

So you know the drill. Cut fifteen pages. Add a helicopter explosion. And go shoot your damn movie!
