Welcome to Twisted’s Weekly Themed Writing Challenge

Each week between now and the close of submissions, we are going to throw out a writing challenge for the community. A theme if you like. You can still write and submit any story to Twisted50, and at any time of course, but the themed weekly writing challenge will offer some focus and a writing deadline for all of us Twisted writers to work toward.

The new challenge will go live every Thursday, announced via email and on the News section of the site.  

The first one, which is live now, is… drum roll…

80’s Inspired Horror
What was it about the 80’s that we loved so much? The movies, even the bad ones, are classics. The Thing, The Fog, The Evil Dead, Dawn Of The Dead, Halloween, Salems Lot, The Burning, Hammer House Of Horror, The Changeling… and so many more! Mark Walker I am sure you can expand on this list. Then the books… Stephen King, James Herbert, and most of all, The Pan Books Of Horror series. And we can sneak in some later 70’s too if you like (I mean Trilogy of Terror and Dr Terrors House Of Horrors are a MUST!)…

Can you craft a story that evokes the feelings and memories of this era? Of how these stories made us feel? Echo the characters or plots perhaps? The themes?

I am so thrilled to see what we come up with as a demented community!
