The truth? People get hired by people they know. And people who like them.
You need to be KNOWN. You need to be LIKED.
You should also be talented too.
But the truth? Talent has no value if people don’t know you, or do know you, but don’t feel that essential connection.
Relationships are the fuel of the Film and TV industry.
And I get it. Networking is something I do NOT enjoy. Or at least didn’t used to enjoy.
Here’s a list of things I would often rather do…
- Think up more great ideas to write.
- Write those ideas down.
- Tweak my LinkedIn (I hate this)
- Hoover the house.
- Binge watch a series while reassuring myself this is research.
- You can add some here…
Yes, I could expand this list. Almost indefinitely.
You get the point.
So HOW can we massively increase our relationships, with the right people, do it rapidly and also (sharp intake of breath) enjoy the experience?
This dilemma is why I created this Networking event, originally run just before the London Screenwriters’ Festival to help delegates get the very most of the opportunities.
Expanded now, it’s unlike any other event on the planet.
First, we spend a whole day training to be Networking Ninjas. We learn. Have fun. Practice. Practice more. There’s around 100 people in the room, so the event in itself is a huge opportunity.
Then we grab some dinner, after which we attend an industry event, just yards from where we train. And in that room, there will be 600 filmmakers, writers, producers, actors, agents…
The opportunity to learn killer techniques THEN put that all into intense action is why this event is so powerful and transformative.
You will NEVER walk into a room again and feel nerves or hesitation.
Tickets are £97 and give you access to both the training and the evening Networking Party.
The venue is Ealing Studios, and the date is Saturday December 14th.
Sign up HERE and I look forward to the most fun day of your creative training life!
