So I have moved house. I left my old place in what felt like the winter, and arrived at my new place, 1 mile down the road, in what feels like the summer. I can’t believe how much stuff I have, at least half of which is movie related materials that need archiving. Thank god I have an attic.
For the last few days I have been out of it, but I have hit the ground running. Thursday, this week, we have our first 35mm screening in central London of ‘Gone Fishing’ for producer Marc Samuelson. Many of you will know that this screening was the genesis of ‘Gone Fishing’. While it would be easy to say everything rests on this single screening, I now feel like this little fish has grown beyond this one idea and is now swimming out into a wider ocean of possibilities. It’s very exciting and a wonderful example of how taking action for a sole reason causes a cascading effect of many new possibilities and relationships. Success really does lie in the taking of action, and it’s often a kind of success you can’t even anticipate.
Cannes is looming and other festival submissions will follow imminently. The poster is complete and at the printers right now. The Bluray is nearly complete (and will be this week). The new website is almost finished. Very soon, all of the separate elements needed for ‘Gone Fishing’ will be in place, and it will turn into an exercise in exploiting the opportunities.
Right, I now have to invite a whole pile of people who should come along on Thursday.
Onward and upward!
