Day 1 of the Heart Of Gold Film Festival in Gympie has kicked off, after a press junket day of non stop photos and interviews (pic here is from one of the first I did on the beach, article here). Publicist Angela Vogt has done more PR for us than ALL of the other festivals combined and she is a great example of what charm, energy, enthusiasm and dedication can produce. Every festival needs an Angela! BRAVO!
Yesterday I ran the first day of the Guerilla Film Makers Masterclass. We have a great sized group of about 30 people, in a lovely old building that feels just right. What has really struck me here is that the people are extremely positive, fearless and enthusiastic. In fact I don’t think I have ever worked with a group that is quite so much fun! And they are smart too, and I don’t necessarily mean knowledgeable about film, but smart on a kind of ‘life level’. It’s really refreshing, and for me, this seminar is lining up to be one of the most rewarding experiences in a long time. If these guys are a good section of the creative people in Oz, then I really need to think about moving! Really! And then there is the weather!
Tonight is the opening night ceremony and Gone Fishing is playing as part of that program. Can’t wait to see how the audiences respond to it.
And I am still getting a buzz from watching water go down the sink hole in the opposite whirlpool direction, and the stars all being upside down. Blimey, I am south of the Equator!
Onwards and upwards!
